JUNIOR COACH RESPONSIBILITIES AGREEMENT:

As a Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley volunteer junior coach, I agree to:

1.) Demonstrate a positive, encouraging demeanor, and a healthy lifestyle.

2.) Be my wonderful self with the girls at all times and have fun with them!

3.) Prepare for, and attend at least one lesson EACH week during the 10-week season, which runs the week of March 4-May 18. I will assist with each lesson, participate in the games and activities, and attend the Girls on the Run 5K at the end of the season.

4.) Complete all required coach training and reference check assistance (as needed) by the assigned due dates.

5.) Read my coach newsletters each week and respond when needed.

6.) Work together and communicate with my fellow coaches to create a positive coaching team and deliver the Girls on the Run or Heart & Sole curriculum at my site. We will coordinate to pick up and drop off all GOTR materials as required, communicate with the parents at our site, support the Run for a Reason fundraiser, plan our end-of-season Final Celebration, and complete all other program-related tasks.

7.) Communicate effectively with the Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley staff and respond in a timely fashion.

8.) Notify the Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley staff as soon as possible if there is any change in my coaching status.

COACH COMMITMENT AGREEMENT:

By signing up to coach, I understand that:

1.) I am making a commitment to fulfill my coaching responsibilities for the Spring 2024 season.

2.) The number of girls who are able to participate in Girls on the Run/Heart & Sole is directly dependent on the number of coaches at each program site. I understand that the girls at my site and my fellow coaches are counting on me to fulfill my commitment to coaching in order to have the program at my site.

3.) If for some unforeseen circumstance, I cannot fulfill my coaching responsibilities and have to cancel from coaching, I understand that I am putting the program's existence in jeopardy and that it may need to be canceled due to a lack of coaches. I will let the Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley office staff know as soon as possible if I have to cancel my coaching commitment and will do my best to find a replacement to take my spot on the coaching team.

COACH TRAINING AGREEMENT:

As a prerequisite to coaching during the Spring 2024 season, I agree to:

1.) Complete New Coach Online Training in its entirety by the start of the season. (The online training gives you an overview of Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley and what the season will be like as a coach. Coaches will have a couple of weeks to complete this training at home.) 

ARRIVAL AND SUPERVISION POLICY:

As a coach, I agree to arrive at least 10 minutes before our lessons start, and either I or at least one other coach supervises the girls on our team from the time the girls are dismissed from school until the time the program starts.

COACH CONTRACT:

I agree to perform the coach responsibilities to the best of my ability. I also lead and promote a healthy lifestyle and will not be under the influence of alcohol nor smoke nor use tobacco when acting in the capacity of a Girls on the Run coach. I have never been arrested for charges of child abuse, assault, child neglect, or sexual misconduct. I have never been convicted of any crime involving a minor, any violent felony, or aggravated assault and I am not a registered sex offender. I agree to willingly submit to a background check (if 18 or over) for Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley prior to coaching and provide my social security number and fingerprints for background check purposes. (Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley covers the cost of the background check - there is also an online background check.)
