Girls on the Run Southern Idaho Spring 2025 NEW Coach Application

Each season Girls on the Run has a dynamic group of coaches that volunteer their time to guide and mentor girls so that they are prepared to become happy, healthy, self-confident adolescents and adults. Coaches need not be runners; they just need to be individuals that want to be a positive influence and who are committed to developing and celebrating our youth.

Girls in our community need Girls on the Run now, more than ever. Girls on the Run coaches are mentors, role models, and all-around cheerleaders who help our girls unlock their limitless potential. Coaches can be parents/guardians, teachers, or community volunteers. You do not need to be a runner or have coaching experience to be a GOTR coach.

Our teams consist of 7 to 20 girls that meet two times each week for 90 minutes a session and are led by two to three fully-trained volunteer coaches. Most teams begin practice when the school bell rings (approximate start time is 2:30-4:00 pm, hours vary by school). Even if you can only commit to coaching 1 day a week you will still be helping make a difference in the lives of girls in our community.

Our program focuses on encouraging our girl community to build life skills surrounding confidence, communication, and self-reflection. Running is just a small part of how our program helps girls become joyful, healthy, and confident. Focusing on creating a mastery climate to eliminate the intimidation of competition and emphasizing personal success makes our program unique and undeniably beneficial. For more questions regarding the nature of our program, please visit our website www.gotrsouthernidaho.org or contact our office 208-788-7863.

Here are the NEW COACH requirements:

  • Complete a background check
  • Complete self paced online training modules for new coaches before our in person training.
  • Attend in person training event. Approximately 2 hour

Once coach training is completed it does not need to be redone to coach in subsequent season. You are a trained coach for life!

Please select the GOTR program site that would work best for you to volunteer at, but if you can be flexible and go where the need is greatest please indicate in your form on the appropriate question.
