Girls on the Run of the Rockies helps girls change the way they see themselves and their opportunities. In a world of filters and unrealistic social norms, Girls on the Run helps dampen the noise so girls can decide who they want to be and what they want to do.
Social-emotional development and wellness are at the core of what we do. Our program provides a safe place for girls to connect, build confidence, develop character, and find strength from their community. Girls on the Run of the Rockies is a 501(c)3 organization that uses the power of running to change the way girls see themselves and their opportunities. Girls on the Run is a program for all girls regardless of race, ethnicity, or socio-economic background. We could not do this without the support of donors like you!
OUR MISSION
We use the power of running to change the way girls ages 8 - 13 see themselves and their opportunities. Girls learn to stretch themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and socially while training for a 5K run. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
THE PROGRAM
Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons help girls make positive decisions to avoid risky adolescent behaviors. At the end of each program the girls run a celebratory 5K to experience the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment. However, at Girls on the Run, the finish line is just the beginning, as our ultimate goal is to provide the girls with tools and resources that develop their ability to think critically - a skill that will serve them well for a lifetime.
OUR GOAL
Girls on the Run is growing by leaps and bounds! In the past year alone, we have experienced amazing growth in the number of girls we serve! Our goal is to continue this kind of growth until we can reach as many girls in our area as possible. We invite you to join us by helping us financially to expand to more schools and offer scholarships to girls who otherwise would not be able to afford this transformational program.
