Girls on the Run Central Kentucky Fall 2024 5k Volunteer Registration

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Girls on the Run Central Kentucky!

Girls from across Central Kentucky will be coming together to achieve their goals on 5k Day. Volunteers are essential to help our girls shine! The 5k will be held on December 7th at Keeneland Race Track.

Below is a list of volunteer opportunities and time commitments:  

Friday, December 6th @ the GOTR office (446 East High Street)

Race Material Pick Up: 3:30 pm - 6:15 pm - Distribute materials to pre-registered participants.

Saturday, December 7th @ Keeneland Race Track

Bike Lead: 8:30 am - 9:30 am  - Serve as the lead for the runners at the start of the race. Must provide own bike and be prepared to ride for 3.1 miles.

Bike Sweeper: 8:30 am - 10 am - Ride bike through the course to ensure all participants have completed the 5K. Should be prepared to walk bike if necessary. Must provide own bike.  

Cheer Station Participant: 8:30 am - 10:00 am - Please email naresha@gotrcentralky.org to notify her if you are coming with a group or need to be paired with one. 

Course Directions: 8:30 am - 10:00 am - Stationed along the course to ensure the participants stay on the 5k route. May require some walking to point on 5k route.

Equipment Set Up: 6:00 am - 8:30 am - Assist with setting up registration tables, refreshment area, etc. May require some lifting.

Face painting 7:00am - 9:00 am - Paint easy shapes on the girls faces quickly to get through our crowd size.

Finish Line: 8:30 am - 10:30 am - Distribute water and medals to GOTR participants at the end of the race, crowd control. 

Friendship Bracelets: 7:00 am - 9:00 am - Assist the girls making friendship bracelets prior to race start.

Happy Hair Hair Spray- 7:00 am - 10:00 am - Assist the girls with spraying their hair prior to race start.

Merchandise: 7:00 am - 10:00 am - Manage the sales of GOTR merchandise.

Parking: 7:00 am - 9:30 am - Direct individuals to the designated parking lots.  

Photo Booth: 7:00 am - 10:00 am- Assist participants with photos and props.  

Photographer: 6:30 am - 11:00 am - take photos of participants and volunteers.

Registration/Participant Check In: 7:00 am - 9:30 am - Distribute race materials to pre-registered participants.

Tear Down/Clean Up: 9:30 am - 11:00 am - Assist with cleaning up during/after race festivities.

Volunteer Tent: 6:30 am -10:30 am- Check in all volunteers, assist course marshal, direct volunteers, collect season materials from coaches. 

Water Station: 8:00 am - 10:00 am - Hand water to participants along the course.

Wave Start: 8:00 am - 9:00 am - Direct teams of girls to the starting line.
