Girls on the Run of Montgomery County Fall 2024 5K Volunteer Registration

Below are the volunteer job descriptions for the Girls on the Run 5K, Sunday, November 24, 2024. 

Volunteers:  All registered volunteers must be a min. of 14 years or older.  When you arrive, please check in directly at the volunteer tent.

All volunteers will be contacted two weeks prior to the event with your job description and check-in time.  If the job is not listed below, it is no longer available. 

Put Me In!  I'll go Anywhere  This job is considered the most helpful.  Volunteer holes are inevitable. This gives us flexibility to put you either on the course, help out with the finish line or hand out water! Must be 14 years or older. Check-in will vary.

Start/Finish Line- Cheer on the runners before they start the run and as they finish the 5K while acting as course security. This volunteer role is fun and may require a loud voice.  Must be 18 years or older. Check-In 7:30 AM

Course Marshal- Help keep participants on the course and motivated!  Course marshals play a very important role at the 5K.  Volunteers must be punctual, upbeat, and ready to serve rain or shine! You will need to remain at your post until the last runner/walker passes. Must be 18 years or older.  Check-In 7:00- 7:15 AM

Safety Runners/Walkers- Get some exercise while volunteering! Run or walk the Girls on the Run 5K and be on the lookout for runners in need of assistance. No strollers or little children, please. CPR certification is helpful!  Must be 18 years or older. Check-In 7:30 AM

Water Station on Course**- Help keep runners hydrated at the water stop during the 5K!  Must be 14 years or older. Check-In 7:30 AM. Check-in directly at the water station at 7:30 AM* Parking is available at Walter Johnson High School across the street.

Post-Run Refreshments-  Assist with the set up and clean up of water/snacks. Hand out refreshments after the race.  Remain in post until the last runner exits the chute.  Must be 14 years or older. Check-In 7:30 AM

First Aid Tent- Help address any first aid needs that arise before, during, or after the race. First Aid is required/CPR certification is recommended. Must be 18 years or older. Check-In 7:30 AM

Sustainability-  Help us make an impact on our runners, not the environment!  Assist with our compost, recycling, and waste removal program. Help us reduce our litter and raise awareness about our 5K sustainability efforts. Must be 14 years or older. Check-In 7:30 AM

Logistics- Help us keep everybody safe by supporting participants and their families cross the street, answer questions or assist with parking. Must be 18 years or older. Check-In 7:15 AM

Muscle Team-Help unload banana boxes and water jugs off the truck and help with early morning set up.  Check-in at 6:15 and be done by 9!
