One Stop Community Christmas 2024

One Stop Community Christmas

One Stop is a collaborative effort of many different area organizations (civic groups, schools, businesses, aid organizations, churches, sororities, healthcare providers, etc.) to come together at Christmas time and provide help and hope to families from 7 counties during the holiday season.  We provide a positive holiday experience for the family (not just the children). The families leave One Stop with gifts, games, clothing, and books for the children in the family, as well as a full meal, wrapping paper, and various household goods.

Personal Shoppers: 18 years and older only!

Grab your walking shoes and prepare for a grand time.  You get to go around with clients and help them pick out presents for their children.  One Stop is a big event, and you are their guide through from beginning to end.  Your job is to make sure that clients visit all areas of One Stop allotted to them.

Because of the heavy activity of this position, only two shifts a  day are allowed for volunteers in this area. Shifts are two hours each.

Schedule: 2-hour blocks of time on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 8a-6p (limit of 75 people per hour)

Table Volunteers: 16 years and older only!

What could be more fun than being one of Santa's elves? Table volunteers help keep tables stocked during the day and help the clients find the perfect items for their families. For some tables, volunteers will be in the back, prepping and packaging items such as toilet paper.

Schedule: open blocks of time on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 6:30 am-6:00 pm

Set-Up

We need big and small muscles to help us set up and be ready to go on Saturday morning! We will be setting up all the tables and items on Friday night!

Schedule: Friday, December 13, 2024, from 5:00 pm-8:30pm

Tear Down

We need to pack up any remaining items, take down tables, load trucks and leave Lake Land Community College just as we found it on Friday evening!  We will start to tear down at Lake Land Community College and end at the Salvation Army in Mattoon.

Schedule: Saturday, December 14 from 5:00 pm-9:30 pm
