NOTE FROM CARLY
In honor of International Women’s Day, DJ Jason and I are hosting our monthly Live DJ Yoga Sculpt class on Tuesday, March 4th at 6 PM at CorePower Ballard! This will be a donation-based class, with all donations benefiting Girls on the Run Puget Sound.
Running has played a huge role in my life, both professionally and personally. My running journey began 8 years ago, and throughout it, I've created countless sweat-filled memories, logging miles with close friends and with young kids who are discovering the sport for the first time. This spring, I’m excited to be coaching a team of 20 elementary school-aged girls through the Girls on the Run program. They will not only train for a 5k but also engage with a curriculum designed to build self-confidence.
Join us in supporting an organization that empowers young girls in our community through movement!
MISSION
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
THE PROGRAM
Girls on the Run Puget Sound is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons help girls build confidence in themselves and create connections and belonging in their communities. At the end of each season, the girls run a celebratory 5K to experience the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment. However, at Girls on the Run, the finish line is just the beginning, as our ultimate goal is to provide the girls with tools and resources that develop their ability to think critically - a skill that will serve them well for a lifetime.
