As a young girl, sports played a pivotal role in shaping my identity, work ethic, and sense of community. Whether it was tennis, soccer, volleyball, or hockey, these activities provided me with more than just physical exercise. They became the foundation for personal growth, friendships, and valuable life lessons. However, I regretfully overlooked the power of running as a young athlete, mistakenly believing it to be an individual pursuit. It wasn't until my adult years that I discovered the incredible benefits of running and the sense of belonging it can foster within a community. Since joining a running community, I have experienced firsthand the transformative effects of this sport. Now, I want to share this empowering experience with young girls, and that's why I am passionate about running for Girls on the Run (GOTR). By running for GOTR, I aim to challenge and reshape the narrative I held as a young girl. I want to show girls that running is not just about individual achievement, but rather a community where they can find joy, work hard, and support. By supporting Girls on the Run, we can ensure that more girls have access to the empowering programs and resources that will positively impact their lives.
