Hi all! Thank you for checking out my donor drive page for Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa :)
For those who don't know me...my name is Reeann (my nickname is Ree) and I have been a coach in my community for Girls on the Run for the past 3 years. As of July 2024, I have stepped into a new role--alongside continuing to coach--as a board member for this incredible organization.
Girls on the Run is a national nonprofit organization designed and programmed to strengthen 3rd - 6th grade girls' social, emotional, physical and behavioral skills to successfully navigate life experiences. The program's intentional curriculum places an emphasis on developing competence, confidence, connection, character, caring and contribution in young girls lives through lessons that incorporate running and other physical activities. The life skills curriculum is delivered by passionate and well-equipped volunteer coaches who are trained to teach lessons as intended. At our chapter: Girls on the Run Eastern Iowa, teaching essential life skills is the cornerstone of our research-based programs. Trained volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, expressing empathy and unlocking your inner star power!
Now that you understand more about what GOTR (Girls on the Run) is...I can explain how I am asking for YOUR help! I am signed up and training for my 2nd Marathon that I will be running in October--the IMT Des Moines Marathon on 10.20.24. I am looking for volunteers to help sponsor my miles I am running for the marathon (26.2 to be exact for a full marathon!).
Any donation no matter how big or small helps keep volunteer led, nonprofit organizations like Girls on the Run going in our local communities. This cause is truly so important as GOTR reaches girls at a critical stage strengthening their confidence at a time when society begins to tell them they can't. Underscoring the important connection between physical and emotional health, this program addresses the whole girl when she needs it the most. I have been fortunate as a coach to witness this growth and confidence develop firsthand.
