I come from a family of women. I grew up with six sisters and now have two young daughters of my own. I've seen the magic that happens when women are strong, smart and supportive of each other. I've also witnessed the detrimental effects of women struggling with self-doubt, a lack of voice and opportunity, and crumbling under rigid societal expectations.
Girls on the Run equips young girls at a formative age with the tools and techniques to foster meaningful relationships, build confidence, and achieve their goals. Its a critical program that has an impact on the physical and mental health of our youth. This is especially important in our day and age. In 2023, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that three in five U.S. teen girls felt persistently sad or hopeless in 2021, the highest level reported in at least a decade. In addition, according to the CDC, only 24% of 6-17 year olds participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
The link between physical and mental health is clear, and our young girls cannot reach their full potential without both. I'm passionate about lifting up our youth, while also having tons of fun! Please consider donating to this important cause...Every dollar counts.
