I'll be walking in the Japantown Run with my mom, as we have for over 10 years. Walking is one of the simplest and most beneficial form of exercise to maintain bone mass, muscle strength and balance, so it is an activity I encourage my mom, now 95 years old, to do as much as possible. When the weather is good, we walk to Yu-Ai Kai in the mornings, and she walks home with her caregiver in the afternoons. During the day Mom is a participant in the Senior Day Services Adult Day Care program, where she laughs, sings, exercises, plays games, and enjoys a County nutrition program lunch with her companions. Every morning as we're walking, she tells me how thankful she is to have Yu-Ai Kai nearby and available. We're doing the run and raising money to help ensure the future of Yu-Ai Kai and its many services for seniors and their families and friends - our Japantown community. Please join us!
