Hi everyone , those who know me are aware I am an avid runner . I train rain, snow or shine in sub below zero or scorching hot temps, I am out there. I truly believe no matter the pain or misery you are feeling emotionally or physically , to be able to run .. is a gift, and puts all problems into perspective. Just lace up ! I have been a volunteer coach for GOTR for 3 years . This organization is very close to my heart and soul, and I do wish it was in existence when I was a kiddo .
The program’s focus is empowerment for girls through exercises in self development and to embrace the joy of running and unleash their inner star power. Girls learn self confidence and esteem. Through discipline they learn they have the power to move mountains . They develop strong friendships, team spirit , and support one another, as they log their daily accomplishments. They learn to set reachable goals and realize their potential is much more than they imagined. In GOTR we meet a bi-weekly for 90 minute sessions. we explore important themes such as : negative self talk, bullying, self care, helping others and unleashing our own inner star power. The girls participate in a local charity project, and have the opportunity to experience their own kindness and empathy and they have the ability to make a difference in their community . The girls work through theme based exercises , games , journaling and running miles becomes fun! At the end of our sessions what pleasure it is to behold their pride, as they run and finish the most joyous and glitter filled 5k imaginable . I was honored to be selected as one of the runners to join the TCS NYC Marathon team to raise money for GOTR and keep this organization doing what they do!
My goal is to raise at least $ 3, 000 and I plan to continue to coach and give the gift of this program to my daughters , and one day my daughter’s daughters . Coach granny , why not ?
