As a proud board member and chair of Girls on the Run Philadelphia, this giving season I am giving girls in the Philadelphia area the gift of confidence. Along with my fellow board members, I am raising funds to bring the life-changing Girls on the Run program to girls from underserved communities across our area.
Over the past 12 years, Girls on the Run Philadelphia has inspired over 6,800 girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. Now more than ever we are working hard to make sure EVERY girl who wishes to participate in our sports-based youth development program is able to do so.
Now through December 31st our dedicated board of directors has pledged a board match of $25,000. This means contributions to my fundraiser will be DOUBLED until we reach $25,000. I hope you will join me in unleashing the limitless potential of girls today!
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Each season over 75% of our participants are able to experience the program through scholarship support. Over 55% of our participants come from families with an annual income of less than $29,000.
