My wife and I both enjoy an active lifestyle. When our daughter, Lindsay, was in Elementary school we encouraged her to become involved in sports and other activities so she could share our passion. As lifelong runner I knew the pleasure, piece of mind, and sense of accomplishment I received from a solid exercise routine. When our family first discovered Girls on the Run back in 2009, I thought it would be a great way to share my love of running with Lindsay. What I did not expect were the important life lessons and confidence that the GOTR program delivered as well. Lindsay made great friends while learning the importance of positive self-talk, encouraging others, and handling challenging peer interactions and situations. The added benefit for me was being able to coach her and her teammates through this amazing program. Fast forward 15 years and I have had the opportunity to come back and coach again the last 2 Springs. Watching these young girls grow personally and achieve their running goals, while learning about themselves has given me a great sense of satisfaction. Whether it is today or 15 years ago, Girls on the Run continues to provide this outstanding safe space to help young girls be their best. Please consider supporting the GOTR program which helps young girls build confidence, make friends, and achieve goals that lead to a strong sense of accomplishment.
