Girls on the Run makes a stronger impact than organized sports and physical education programs in teaching life skills girls need to thrive. Our evidence-based program will continue to explore topics relevant to our participants such as:
- Navigating emotions
- Expressing empathy
- Standing up for oneself and others
Using the same innovative, evidence-based blend of group discussions, movement-based games, and social-emotional skill-building activities, our new curriculum places additional emphasis on helping girls love and embrace their uniqueness. In just the past two years, both the CDC and U.S. Surgeon General reported depression and anxiety are at an all-time high for young people, especially girls. In response, we’ve designed new lessons to help participants manage big emotions, build relationships, and ensure all teammates feel like they belong.
Program benefits for our sponsored teams include 30 hours of curriculum instructed by highly trained volunteer coaches; curriculum books for the coaches; journals, activity sheets, goal sheets, a completion certificate, program t-shirt, and program keepsake for participants; program supplies for every activity; healthy snacks at every practice; registration and completion medal for our celebratory 5K; and transportation to the 5K.
Will you join us and show your support for our participants? They need you now more than ever. We look forward to unlocking our participants' star power this season and deeply appreciate any support you can provide!
