As a woman and mom to two young girls who is passionate about health and well-being, Girls on the Run (GOTR) is the organization I wish I had access to growing up. Why? Because their impactful mission is dedicated to empowering girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a curriculum that creatively combines physical activity with crucial life skills. In an age when girls face unprecedented challenges to their mental, emotional, and physical health, GOTR offers a supportive environment that nurtures self-esteem, resilience, and healthy habits.
In 2023, the CDC reported that three in five US teen girls felt consistently sad or hopeless in 2021, the highest level reported in at least a decade. Additionally, studies show that over 40% of girls between ages 10 and 17 report low self-esteem, and only one in five girls get the recommended level of daily exercise, impacting their long-term health.
These statistics are scary. But there's hope and we can do something about it. Participation in Girls on the Run has proven benefits: 97% of girls report that they learn critical skills to handle life’s ups and downs, and over 85% experience improved physical fitness.
By fostering a sense of community and empowering girls to set and achieve goals, GOTR not only enhances physical health but also instills a lasting sense of self-worth and emotional strength, providing tools that last a lifetime.
Through your donation, you are helping to shape a stronger and healthier generation of young women.
