At Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley, we believe that every girl is unique, with her own story to tell, talents to share, and experiences that shape her perspective of herself and the world. If you are familiar with our program, you know that we do not aim to "fix" her. We do not operate under the assumption that we need to pick up broken pieces and put them back together. Instead, our philosophy is that every girl is born with immeasurable potential—a potential that can illuminate the world. We understand, supported by data, that societal messages and the complex environments in which our girls grow up can often dim this light. It is our responsibility and privilege to ignite the spark that exists within every girl. Additionally, we offer scholarships to 40% of our participants, ensuring that more girls can join us.
